Case Study - Clare Hartley Ceramics
Clare came to us requiring a new website to compliment a logo that she had previously had designed. After initial discussions it became apparent that Clare wanted a hand-crafted aesthetic that was relevant to the work she produces for her customers.
We started with a cloth that Clare uses to roll out her clay when making her pieces. This provided the background texture and red banner across the top of the site and perfectly echoes Clare's real-life environment. The next element to add was type and for the main navigation we scanned in prints of the letter blocks Clare uses to stamp her products.
This project provides a great example of the detail we like to go to with all our web design work and ultimately we make sure those details are correct and specific to every client.
Logo and Identity
The right branding can raise a company above it's competition, adding value and implying values such as trust and heritage. A well designed logo can place a company amongst (its often much larger) competitors and allow it to compete on a level playing field, targeting customer types who are all looking for a certain something.
However, often the process only starts with the logo, with brand identity encompassing everything from font choice, corporate colours and a set of guidelines about how to deploy this design across all formats both digital and print. We can help with all of this.
Case Study - Pennivision Lighting And Camera
Steve Pennington of Pennivision came to us with a requirement for both a website and a new logo for his camera and lighting company. After discussions it emerged that Steve had already started to play about with distorting an image of an eagle. He had cropped it, distorted it, applied some colour and it looked great. The only problem was that it was not something that could either be clearly identified or reproduced at different sizes or colours.
We decided to work from scratch and created a new, cleaned up version of the eagle and placed it against a block of colour, helping it to stand off the page or screen at all sizes and resolutions. We also chose a strong, condensed font, again easily legible and designed to work both on screen and as a security sticker now placed on all the Pennivision equipment.
The logo has given the company a true brand identity and is now used throughout all Pennivision's marketing. It provides a strong corporate image with an edge, ideally suited to the television and broadcast sector in which it has to compete.
