We are now designing for mobile and tablet.

We have just launched our new responsive, mobile and tablet friendly website and we are receiving lots of positive interest.

Simply put, responsive design means the website changes depending on the screen size of the device through which it is being viewed. See the screenshots below, or if you are reading this on a desktop PC or Mac try resizing your browser window to watch the site adapt!

Little Man

A big thanks to Louise Gardner this week for this great illustration conceived on a recent trip to Canada. Here is what Lou has to say:

‘ I produced this piece during a break in Canada, which gave me the space to observe and reflect.  It is the beginning of a series based on connections through our life energy. Unseen, often unnoticed and who’s power is underestimated by many ‘

Lou is part of Design by Day who can be found here!

R2D2

After a short break Wednesday Wall is back, this week courtesy of designer/illustrator friend Jules Tagoe with this great R2D2 artwork!

Here is what Jules has to say:

“Star Wars’ R2D2 using simple geometric shapes and Swiss style posters as inspiration. Other influences on this work comes from one of my favourite painters the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian.

The 2 white circles in the top left of the picture denote the 2 suns we see on Tattooine in the original 1977 film, while the text relates to R2’s droid type. Also if you look closely the numbers in the image represent a code that contains the year of the release of ‘A New Hope’… 1977.”

Jules has a blog with lots more design/sci-fi goodness which can be reached at:

Dieter Rams

With the recent departure if Steve Jobs from Apple it seemed timely to highlight a personal design icon of my own who’s work for Braun has had a huge influence on the electronics giant. Often dubbed ‘the Godfather of Apple’ Rams minimal, functional and highly aesthetic approach to industrial design can be seen right through Apple’s product range and shows how often great design is not simply an idea plucked out the air but rather an evolution of ideas moulded into the next great thing. The video however does a far better job of explaining this than me so enjoy!

I Love MCR

After the recent riots across the UK (some of which were very close to Islington Mill, the home of Every Last Pixel) we thought it would be good to promote the current I Love MCR campaign.

The campaign aims to show that we are proud of our city and are united against anti-social behaviour. You can follow the campaign on facebook and see more info on visitmanchester.com but I suppose the best way of showing your support though is get out, do some shopping, buy a coffee or go for a drink and support the businesses of Manchester (and Salford!).

Converse/Spartak Image

Converse/Spartak Image

Image on the wall

A little while ago I was asked to attend a viral video shoot for Converse which featured SPARTAK performing the soundtrack. I took along my camera and here are a couple of shots from the top of the half-pipe looking out into the action. It’s on the wall now as these images were emailed off yesterday as they are being used in some further SPARTAK promotion.

An illustrator next week (if we can get the artwork in time!)…

Batemans Row

Batemans Row

A bit of architecture this week. This is Batemans Row, the studio and home of London architects Theis and Khan and was recently featured on Channel 4′s ‘The Secret Life Buildings’. The building not only looks striking but when examined nearly all it’s elements (from overall building dimensions to window panes, doors etc) are based on the golden ratio which is said to be the most pleasing proportion to the human eye. I thought both the execution and ideas behind this building were fascinating.

More Wednesday Wall next week, if you want to be featured please just let us know!
